Academic Results
Marsden is proud of its long-standing record of academic excellence.
This consistent success has led to assumptions being made that Marsden selects students on academic grounds or prevents some students from sitting examinations. In fact, no assessment is made of girls until after they are enrolled in the school and all students are prepared for examinations. A recent ERO report noted that high success was achieved by a group whose Year 9 profile showed widely varying abilities.

We acknowledge that academic success does not come easily to all students but with conscientious and creative teaching, Marsden girls are encouraged to do their best and to work hard to achieve good results. Progress is regularly assessed, any problems identified early and, when required, extra assistance is provided. All students sit the NCEA (National Certificate of Educational Achievement) and Marsden also offers the Cambridge based International AS and A levels in some subjects.
