They are from former students who travel and discover the ruins of the civilisations they first learned about at school.
It is a joyous subject, covering the literature, art history and history of Classical Greece and Rome.
As much of New Zealand art, science, literature, law, philosophy, politics and religion is derived from Western Europe, inquiry into these parts of our culture is important to our understanding of modern society.
