History

History looks at where we have come from and how that influcences what we do now and in the future.

Historians attempt to find patterns in behaviour through the study of documents and artefacts left by people of other times and places.

The research, thinking and communication skills developed in History are important for life and applicable in many careers.

At Year 12 the course provides a good background for understanding some of the historical forces in the modern world.  The Russian Revolution, The Independence of India and the Vietnam War are among topics covered.

Tudor Stuart Britain from 1558 to 1667 is the main focus of the Year 13 course, which is designed to provide transition from school to university.
