Physical Education and Health
The brand new Sports Education Centre is at the heart of the P.E. and Health programme at Marsden.
The new gymnasium features a full size basketball court and state-of-the-art sound system. The space can be divided in two, offering room for multiple sports activities.
A dance studio, weights room, Health classroom and uniform shop are in the planning stages, along with amenities and a viewing gallery.
In PE and Health we introduce students to a wide variety of sports and health topics, bringing in guest instructors to complement our five specialised staff.
For NCEA Year 11, students learn tournament organisation, managing, coaching, refereeing and playing. In Health, sexuality, nutrition, stress and the influences of society are among topics covered.
Physical Education is an academic subject for senior students, who look at anatomy, biomechanics, fitness training, skills, psychology and personal performance.
Even if they are not taking PE for NCEA, our senior students still have one session a week to try activities such as golf, yoga and the ultimate frisbee and have a good time together.
