Library

Marsden's large, sunny library and information centre is a vibrant place of activity.
LibraryLocated in the middle of the school campus, it provides a wide selection of reading and resources for staff and students.

Current magazines, newspapers and periodicals complement the electronic resources available to the students through the school network.

The computers in the library are supplemented by a set of mini-laptops which allow more students to research while achieving a quiet working space for study and reading.

All Year 7-10 classes have sessions in the library when they can browse the fiction collection, select from lists of recommended reading or consult with the library staff.

The library is officially open from 8am to 4.30pm, but can be open longer on request.

All students and staff on both campuses have access to the library from home through the school website.

The Library homepage on Scholaris gives “access” to the library catalogue (Oliver) as well as reading lists, databases, recommended websites, tips on researching and preparation of bibliographies and footnotes.

There is also an opportunity for students to interact and comment on new books and reviews through a blog site. The Scholaris site is in its infancy but is growing fast.

Supported by senior student librarians, the library staff  are all qualified librarians with many other skills, experiences and interests. They mount ever-changing colourful displays of topical interest, including current student work and photographs.

The library is a popular place to hold after school debates and lunchtime meetings.
