Music

"Music can change the world because it can change people," Bono

Playing and enjoying music at Marsden can give students a life-long appreciation of the performing arts.

FlutesIt provides relaxation, stimulation and fellowship as a student gains confidence and joins groups of like-minded musicians.

Performing music is said to use both sides of the brain, stimulating physical, mental, emotional and spiritual connections which lead to higher achievements in all areas of academic life.

Marsden has a wonderful music programme. We have choirs, orchestras, concert bands, jazz, swing bands and handbell ringing, as well as the academic Music curriculum. Girls may take individual or group lessons in a wide variety of instruments.

Lessons are organised within the school timetable where possible.

Composer in Residence

Highly valued at Marsden is the Composer-in-Residence programme where a composer works at the school for five weeks, taking workshops with the girls and composing a piece of music for the school.
