Homework Club
Homework Club 2012
The Homework Club for students in Year 11 to 13 is recommencing in Week 2 of Term 2. The purpose of the Homework Club is to provide a warm and quiet environment where students can focus on completing their homework without the distractions of things such as television, online entertainment and younger siblings. The Club will run two days a week, after school for the duration of the term.
Hours:
The Homework Club will be held in the school library on Wednesdays and Thursdays after school. The library is open to all students free of charge until 5pm. From 5 through to 8 pm the Homework Club takes over that space and is staffed by a university student. Supervisors may be available for some subject assistance, however, they will not be employed as tutors. In Term 4, dependent on demand and availability, additional sessions may be run to assist with exam preparation. Sessions will end promptly at 8.00pm. Parents are expected to be aware of, and responsible for, students’ travel arrangements for getting home. The Homework Club supervisor will leave immediately following the end of the session.
Expectations:
Students will arrive prepared to work independently on their homework in a quiet study environment. They are welcome to bring their own laptops but these are to be used for study purposes only. Social networking of any kind will not be allowed. Discussion relevant to school assignments is welcomed, but students working together will need to work in a place where they do not disturb others.
Refreshments:
A light meal will be available if pre-ordered, between 5.30 and 6pm in the school cafeteria. This will consist of microwavable hot food (eg spaghetti bolognaise), a sweet treat (eg ice cream) and a drink. No food or drink is to be consumed in the library. Students may leave at 7pm without eating but anyone who stays through until 8pm is expected to eat a meal. Students may provide their own meal if preferred.
Access:
Students will have access to the usual library facilities (eg computers, books, photocopying), bathrooms and the cafeteria (between 5.30 and 6pm). They will NOT have access to other areas of the school (such as lockers) after 5pm.
Fees:
The fee structure for the Homework Club is as follows:
• Regular weekly or twice weekly attendance for the term: $25.00 per session- including dinner; $15 per session - without dinner. (invoiced monthly).
• Casual attendance (which must be booked in by the beginning of the week): $28.00 per session - including dinner; $18 per session – without dinner.
