Creative Inquiry Symposium 2009
| An exciting new initiative for Marsden called “Think Again - Make a Difference!” saw Year 8 students experience a three-day conference style event in September where they had the opportunity to inquire, experiment and explore solutions to issues associated with travel and pedestrian safety. |
The event was enthusiastically supported by the NZ Police and Serious Crash Unit, Wellington City Council and the NZ Transport Agency.

| Symposium workshops included creative responses to issues through music compositions, the design of a ‘high visibility’ component to the Marsden School uniform and a street art performance, which saw Vera St closed by Police while students painted the road intersection as a ‘pedestrian friendly zone’. |

The Symposium ended with a report back to the assembled school and invited guests. The girls presented their findings in a range of formats including a short video, podcast, brochures and posters, and powerpoint presentations. | |
| It is likely many of the ideas discussed and presented will contribute to identifying and encouraging smart choices for students’ school travel options. It was an overwhelming success and the girls are keen to see this event become a regular part of the academic programme, already contributing ideas to make it even greater. |
