Resilience

4 PillarsWe believe the quality of resilience is essential for young people growing up in the 21st century.  Everyone needs to learn how to deal with adversity, setbacks and disappointments.  Those who can pick themselves up and keep going have the greatest chance of personal happiness and success.  Resilience is the explicit focus of a number of our programmes:

Positive Purposeful People (PPP) for students in years 11, 12 and 13 is a weekly timetable class which helps build resilience.  It is based on the work of Dr Martin Seligman, as shown in his books Authentic Happiness and Flourish.

Our work with Enlighten Education, whose programmes are directly aimed at raising the self-esteem of teenaged girls, has proved hugely popular with our students in Years 7 to 10.

Bounceback and Learning Leadership are programmes used in form time and tutor times.  They focus on personal strength and giving students strategies to help them take their place in the world with confidence.
