Music
Music plays an integral role in the life of Marsden Primary. The School aims to nurture a love of music through a rich classroom programme, and through varied group and individual opportunities for performing.
Years 1 – 6 classes receive a 45 minute weekly music lesson taught by a Specialist Music Teacher. Students explore and acquire skills and knowledge in the elements of music – beat, rhythm, pitch, through singing, playing instruments, moving and through careful listening.
Year 6 learn the ukulele and the foundations of reading and writing music.
There are opportunities for performing in small groups in the classroom, as soloists at our Chapel services and also during our musical soirees for parents. The Primary Orchestra plays at our concerts and entertains with a range of percussion, string and wind instruments. For our keen singers, there are opportunities to belong to auditioned and all-comers choirs.
The School stages a major production every second year which involves all students from Preschool to Year 6.
Chapel Musicians (ready for an 8.45 start)
All students (whatever their ability level) are offered the opportunity to perform solo on a regular basis to Marsden Primary before and after Chapel Services.
Instrumental Tuition
Tuition in piano and a wide range of instruments is available from music specialists for Years 3-6 during school time.
