Curriculum
Marsden offers an educational experience where attitudes and values are fostered that will prepare students for happy and stimulating lives.
Students are encouraged to strive for excellence in their academic, cultural and sporting pursuits, to value creative, innovative and independent thinking and to understand their responsibilities as local and global citizens.
Our focus at Marsden Whitby is a balanced education that brings out the best in each individual and equips students to be valuable contributing members of the community.
The academic programme covers the essential areas of English, the Arts, Health and Physical Education, Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and Technology.
In addition, Religious Education, Values and Ethics, Leadership and study skills are taught explicitly. We aim to provide every student with a broad, well-balanced general education commensurate with their ability.
Academic and pastoral staff work together to ensure that the progress of individual students is carefully monitored and that their particular needs are met. Provision is made for gifted and talented students and learning support is also available for students with special learning needs.
Students at Marsden Whitby are encouraged to keep as many career options open as possible by studying a wide range of subjects. More detailed information, about compulsory and optional subjects and course outlines, is contained in the curriculum booklet given to students every year.
