Head of Senior School
Caroline Robertson has been appointed as Marsden's Head of Senior School (Years 11–13), following Anne Field's retirement at the end of 2021. She has been with us for many years, first as a Languages/English teacher, then as Head of Languages and since 2018 as Director of International Students. Taking on the role of Head of Senior School is a natural progression for her.
Teaching and Learning Background
Caroline’s career started in the Communications Team at NZQA, followed by her role as a German and English teacher at Marsden. She has been involved in curriculum design work with the Ministry of Education as well as sitting on National Examination Panels. Prior to this appointment she was Head of Languages and has previously been Communications Director on Marsden's Senior Management Team during the Academic Director’s Sabbatical.
In 2020 Caroline received one of only six New Zealand National Excellence in Teaching Awards. The NEiTA awards recognise teachers and leaders who represent excellence within their teaching profession through their contribution to the advancement of education at local, regional or national levels.
A Philosophy based on Communication and relationships
Caroline's tertiary qualifications in Language and Marketing have allowed her to combine her love of teaching with her passion to communicate with people from many different cultures and backgrounds. Having lived and studied abroad and being fluent in German has provided Caroline with valuable insight and experience dealing with not only international students, but our domestic students as well. They all love Frau Robertson.
Relationships and communication define Caroline’s approach when interacting with students both in the classroom and in her role as Tutor, teacher and mentor.
