FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

We are seeking an experienced and capable Financial Controller to join our team.

Working closely with the Business Director, the Financial Controller will oversee the school’s financial operations, reporting, compliance, payroll oversight, budgeting processes, and internal controls. This is a broad and hands-on role that will suit someone who enjoys combining strategic financial oversight with day-to-day operational leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

• leading all core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and cashflow management
• preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
• managing statutory reporting including GST, PAYE, and audit requirements
• maintaining and improving financial systems, controls, and processes
• supporting the Finance Committee with accurate and timely financial information
• providing leadership to finance administration staff
• identifying operational efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities
• supporting wider school projects and initiatives as required. 

About you

You will be an experienced finance professional with strong technical accounting capability and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. You will be comfortable operating in a dynamic environment and communicating financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Ideally, you will bring:

• at least 5 years’ experience in a senior finance or financial controller role
• strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting expertise
• experience managing payroll and statutory compliance
• excellent analytical and organisational skills
• high levels of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
• strong relationship management and communication skills
• experience with financial systems and process improvement
• education sector experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
