Marsden student's artwork wins Shakespeare Prize

Congratulations to Year 9 Marsden student, Ivy, whose artwork based on King Lear has won the Shakespeare Globe Centre NZ Sheilah Winn static image prize.

When asked about her inspiration for the design, Ivy said "I used my research on the play to form an idea of how the play made me think and feel, and the play's mood. I then created an image I think really captures what the play is about. I included the quote, "Sirrah, you were best take my coxcomb.", said by the fool to King Lear, hinting that King Lear is going crazy and is no longer acting like a king".

Along with receiving a prize, Ivy's art will be displayed at the Shakespeare's Globe exhibition in London as well as around New Zealand.
