Marsden students have once again distinguished themselves at the highest level of academic achievement, with exceptional success in the 2025 New Zealand Scholarship examinations. Across a wide range of subjects, our students earned multiple Scholarships, including two triple Scholarship recipients, reflecting both individual excellence and the strength of Marsden’s academic programme.
New Zealand Scholarship is the most academically challenging assessment available to secondary school students in New Zealand. Designed to extend and recognise the country’s highest-achieving learners, Scholarship examinations require candidates to demonstrate critical thinking, complex problem-solving, and the ability to apply knowledge in sophisticated and insightful ways. Awards are limited to approximately three percent of students in each subject’s Level 3 cohort, making Scholarship a prestigious and highly competitive academic distinction.
We warmly congratulate our Year 13 Scholarship recipients. Asha Todd and Alisha Ramsay each achieved Scholarship in Geography. Lopa Mistry, our 2025 Proxime Accessit, achieved an exceptional three Scholarships in Biology, Chemistry and Statistics. Our 2025 Dux, Ashreya Ranchord, also achieved three Scholarships in Biology, Statistics and Economics, demonstrating remarkable academic depth across both the sciences and social sciences.
We are equally proud of our four Year 12 students who achieved New Zealand Scholarship. Elke Bartlett achieved an impressive two Scholarships in English and Physics; Abigail Hyde was awarded Scholarship in Music; Bay Johnson in History; and Abigail Molenda in French. Achieving Scholarship in Year 12 is particularly impressive, requiring students to compete successfully against predominantly Year 13 candidates nationwide. These results reflect not only commitment and intellectual curiosity, but a culture that encourages students to stretch beyond expectation.
Principal Paula Wells says the results highlight the school’s commitment to excellence.
