Samuel Marsden Collegiate School (“SMC”) is an all girls school based in Wellington. We are looking for an experienced Director of Rowing (Head Coach) to oversee the ongoing development and delivery of our rowing program. The program normally caters for around 25 rowers. This is a part time fixed term role for the 2023-2024 rowing season.

SMC Rowing Club is a well established Club and has strong support from the School, the Rowing Committee and parents. The Club is affiliated to, and represents, Wellington Rowing Club which provides our Club house and environment from which to conduct our training. The Wellington Rowing Club also hosts three other schools in which there can be regular collaboration.
The successful candidate will be organised, positive, and able to communicate clearly with the girls and the SMC Rowing Community. They will be motivated, enthusiastic, and will have a results based vision. They will lead the team of coaches who have a love of the sport and work together to foster teamwork and the enjoyment of rowing in our students. They will need to be able to balance the girls’ academic requirements with rowing. Ideally they will have experience with a focus on technical excellence and fitness.
The position requires flexible hours including weekends. You will be expected to lead multiple training sessions each week along with regattas and team meetings. Coaching and rowing experience is essential as well as experience with boat driving. This will be a paid role based on time commitments and experience.

Samuel Marsden Collegiate School (“SMC”) is an all girls school based in Wellington. We are looking for an Assistant Rowing Coach for our rowing Club who will report to our Director of Rowing. This is a part time fixed term role for the 2023-2024 rowing season (September through to March).
The successful candidate will work mostly with the Novice and Junior squads, but won’t be limited to this.
The position requires flexible hours including weekends. You will be expected to attend multiple training sessions each week along with camps in Whanganui and regattas in Whanganui and Karapiro. Coaching and/or rowing experience is essential.
