Celebrating Maori Language Week

Marsden students from Years 1, 2, 3, 6 some 8,9 and a group of Year 13s from Whitby joined more than 4000 people in a hikoi (march) through Wellington, from Parliament to Te Papa, to celebrate the start of Te Wiki o te Reo Maori (Maori language week). Primary students proudly carried their waka and paddles made at school, followed by the decorated Marsden bus. They were welcomed at Te Papa by a passionate haka, and speeches.

Back at school 3 Food Tech classes made Maori bread and Y13 played tapuwae, a traditional Maori ball game. A great start to Maori Language Week. Ka mau te wehi! awesome! See more photos on our Facebook page
