Finalist for Sir Paul Callaghan Young Science Communicator of the Year

EUREKA and more congratulations for our Deputy Head Girl, Neakiry Kivi! She is one of twelve national finalists to compete for the Sir Paul Callaghan Premier Award and the right to be known as the Sir Paul Callaghan Young Science Communicator of the Year.

The Eureka Trust was set up to realise Sir Paul Callaghan's vision of making “New Zealand, the most beautiful, stimulating and exciting place in the world in which to live”.

The Sir Paul Callaghan Premier Award has been designed to showcase the talents of young students who speak inspirationally and with great passion about the future opportunities for New Zealand from the application of science, technology, engineering and maths innovations.

Neakiry's presentation looks at transforming glass windows in city buildings into clear solar panels, thereby harnassing a previously unutilised resource. Watch her presentation Reinventing Solar: The Solution is Clear

The final will be held in Wellington on Friday 8 September and we wish Neakiry all the very best.
