Marsden Choirs Rewarded at Big Sing
We are so proud of our Marsden choirs and the wonderful results they achieved at the regional Big Sing. Congratulations girls you are all stars!
Our permier choir Altissime received the following awards:
- Category 1 NZ piece Adjudicator's Choice (Ave Verum ,Deines)
- Category 2 Art Music Dorothy Buchanan Cup (Turot, Kodaly)
- Category 3 Highly Commended Certificate (Bring Me Little Water, Ledbetter).
Student led Ad Summa
Marsden's student-run Ad Summa choir, superbly led by Elle Gibson, Ingrid Corbett and Anna Reed, was awarded:
- Best performance of a student-directed choir
- Adjudicator's choice for the rhythmic chanting in Wairua (Category 1).
Awards for Altissime
While not progressing as far as the Big Sing Finale, Altissime will perform at Cadenza, which is new this year and the next level in the Big Sing competition.
Cadenza enables 36 competing choirs from across NZ to experience the buzz of a Finale-style event. There will be massed workshops, with an international choral conductor who will also adjudicate, culminating in a public gala concert. Altissime will join other choirs from the Lower North Island in Whanganui on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 August.
Now that will be a wondrous experience!
