Marsden's Super-ethletes

Marsden's team of five Year 9 students competed online, in the North Island Middle School Ethics Olympiad, against over 20 teams from around the country. After an intense day of ethical discussion and competition, our team emerged as silver medalists, with Auckland Dio taking out gold. It's now onto the Australasian final in February! Congratulations Ashley, Charlotte, Lucia, Olive and Regan - you are super-ethletes!

Middle School Ethics Olympiads involve school groups coming together in order to engage with interesting ethical cases. It is not a debate in that teams from different schools can agree. Eth-letes and coaches practice in the lead up to the event rather like they would in any sporting venture only in this case they are training their mind to draw conclusions carefully, collaboratively and clearly. At the end of the day medals and or certificates are awarded to students based according to excellent moral reasoning.
