Tracey Allen has been a dedicated member of the Marsden teaching staff for an impressive 21 years, and is our Head of English and Languages. She studied at the University of Canterbury and Christchurch Teachers' College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Diploma of Teaching.

Tracey thrives in the vibrant and welcoming environment at Marsden, where she cherishes the frequent greetings from students as she walks down the corridors.

I appreciate the unique and genuine nature of the Marsden community, which I feel defies the typical private school stereotype often portrayed in the media

Outside the Classroom

Tracey has a passion for music, preferably loud, with Bon Jovi's "Wanted, Dead or Alive" as her go-to karaoke anthem. She is an avid reader, recently enjoying "Boy Swallows Universe" and "Where the Crawdads Sing," both earning a perfect ten in her book reviews. Her favourite movies include timeless classics like "The Shawshank Redemption" and the comedy hit "The Hangover."

Tracey fondly reminisces about her childhood, filled with zoom sliding, four square games, leaf and boat races down the stream by her house, and feeding pet lambs—an era when "tick-tock" referred to the sound of a clock. She believes that while students today face different challenges, their experiences are no more difficult than those of previous generations.

With her extensive experience and unwavering commitment to education, Tracey Allen continues to inspire and guide her students, contributing significantly to the Marsden community.
