SCHOOL OPEN WEDNESDAY 22 APRIL

Marsden will be open for instruction on Wednesday 22 April for all students and staff who are safely able to attend. Safe passage to and from school is essential, with Civil Defence cautions remaining in place regarding avoiding unnecessary travel. 

 

Please note the following: 

 

  • Students who cannot attend school are encouraged to access learning on Seesaw (Primary), Hāpara (Year 7-13) , Google Classroom (NCEA+) 
  • Please follow our usual absentee procedures, and be sure to make the attendance decision that best suits your situation, keeping safety of paramount importance 
  • Co-curricular activities and Manaaki@Marsden resume 
  • Eastbourne/Hutt bus service fully operational

SCHOOL CLOSED TUESDAY 21 APRIL DUE TO STATE OF EMERGENCY

 

6.00pm - Monday 20 April 2026

 

Due to the current regional State of Emergency, Samuel Marsden Collegiate School will be closed on Tuesday 21 April. This decision has been made with the safety of our community in mind.

 

All before and after school co-curricular activities are cancelled, and Manaaki@Marsden will be closed for the day.

 

We extend our heartfelt awhi to those affected, and encourage all to follow the advice provided through official channels.

WEATHER UPDATE

School remains open and all students on site are safe. School will finish at the usual time.

 

If you feel it is necessary to collect your child early due to the weather, you are welcome to do so. As always, please make the decision that best suits your family’s circumstances. If you need to get a message to your child, please phone reception on 04 476 8707 or email reception@marsden.school.nz. If students are collected early, they must sign out in the usual way.

 

For families collecting Primary students, you may use the main driveway on Marsden Avenue. To help us manage this safely and efficiently:

 

Please call 04 476 8707 ext 832 to let us know if you are coming early, and call again on arrival so we can release your child.

  • Please adhere to the 10km speed limit at all times.
  • Please remain in your vehicle.
  • Your child will come out to your car as you pull up.

 

Please take extra care on the roads and allow for heavy traffic conditions.

 

Due to the forecast for heavier rain this afternoon, and the potential for surface flooding and travel disruption, our Hutt Link/Eastbourne route will depart school early today at 2.30pm.

 

Metlink has issued an alert noting potential delays, detours and stop closures across all bus and school bus services, with advice to avoid non-essential travel and to check services before heading out. Please check the Metlink alerts page for the latest updates.

 

If there are any further changes to bus services this afternoon, we will communicate this as soon as possible.
