Time to say goodbye

The bittersweet moment has come for us at Marsden School to say farewell to our much loved Principal Jenny Williams.

After nine years leading Marsden Jenny is moving closer to home in Australia and onto a wonderful new role as Principal of Firbank Grammar School in Melbourne, another prestigious Anglican girls’ school of over 1200 students.

Hundreds of parents and former parents, staff and former staff, old girls and friends of the school came to Jenny's community farewell on Thursday night.

She was presented with a beautiful piece of work by glass artist Lyndon Over as a gift from the school and a magnificent pictorial book of New Zealand by the Parents Association. Mandy Britnell bestowed honorary old girls status on Jenny earlier in the day at assembly. Board Chair Cheryl Middelkoop, Margaret Adeane (Academic Director) and Megan Lloyd-Evans, President of the Parents Association all paid tribute to Jenny's leadership at Marsden and Bishop Justin concluded ceremonies with a moving blessing.

On Friday afternoon the girls sent Jenny off in magnificent style, with a flash mob performance of All You Need is Love, which included multiple soloists (from Primary students right through to the staff) and even a trumpet. With a quiz, an Australian accents competition and a final whole school waiata and Irish blessing from Altissime, it was a joyous and heartfelt tribute to a much loved Principal. Head Girl, Harriett Morrow and Deputy, Neakiry Kivi did a fantastic job in organising a farewell that we will never forget and ensuring that Marsden remains forever in Jenny's heart.

Jenny leaves the school in good spirits, with a clear focus and a strong and experienced Senior Management Team and staff.

Members of our Boards have been working hard in the recruitment of a new Principal. We are delighted to have very talented, high calibre candidates and look forward to making an announcement soon.
